The City of Lights
Recently, Elizabeth Quay hosted the City of Light Show series, an impressive event that was presented by Lotterywest.
The spectacular light show featured a 500-piece drone show and a 3-minute pyrotechnic display, which came to life with synchronised summer tunes.

The luminous light show was a family-friendly event, with a range of free entertainment activities that offered something for everyone. The buzzing crowd could satisfy their taste buds and savour the experience with the numerous food trucks, along with the abundant eateries located within the Quay.
The event commemorates the historic first orbit of the earth by John Glenn in 1962, when Perth turned on their lights to acknowledge his mission in the Friendship 7 spacecraft. The lights were clearly visible to Glenn from space and consequently, Perth became known globally as the ‘City of Light’.
Excited attendees were able to relax and take in the display with ample seating, making it the perfect way to spend the weekend with the family, and celebrate the history of our amazing city.
